Monthly Archives: December 2006

Things are soo crazy here.. After Christmas I am going to do a private post to let all of you know what has been going on the last few months.. It has to be private because alot of people here do not know! I just must say.. I am scared and excited at the same time.. It has been 3 months of craziness here.. I have been trying my hardest to rely on the Lord and whatever his will is for our future.. Pray for us. Thanks.

We have so much to do today. Tomorrow is a family party here at my home and I have nothing done.. today I must bake cookies, make fudge, meatballs, prep all the rest of the food for tomorrow, along with a whole list of other things to do.. Tomorrow we will frantically clean! ugh.. Also tonight we are making pasteles (not sure spelling) again.. I had blogged the entire process last year (check the archives for the week before Christmas if you would like to see) I am so not looking forward to tonight.. lol. It is also the season finale of Dr. Who. I just know it is going to be a very sad episode.. (Yes, my sci fi hubby got me hooked)

If I don’t make it back on…

Wishing you a Merry Christmas!

It is freezing in this house.. our furnace just keeps going off.. ugh. Soo cold.. Just one more thing to have trouble with after so many other things.. ugh

Yesterday was mom’s birthday. We surprised her and took her out for dinner. She thought she was getting fish and chips.. But for years she had been saying how she has never been to Olive Garden.. so we surprised her and took her there. Then we had the waitress bring us a birthday cake and sing.. mom was stunned.. and embarrassed.. she kept saying “I can’t eat that”.. we left very full. The funny part was there was alot of birthdays that night. So Anna heard repeated singing.. every time the waitress came Anna would say.. “It’s my Grandma’s birthday. She needs a cake.” and the waitress would try so hard to pretend she didn’t hear her.. lol. Luckily mom was still very surprised when it happened.

I got a very excited yesterday. Months ago for Christmas.. I bought Annaleah her first American Girl purchase.. the bitty baby twins (the original ones). I also bought a few small things. Mom made some clothes and is working on a matching outfit for Anna and the girl doll. I found a twin set (swing, chair, crib, stroller, etc) the day after Thanksgiving.. I was excited..she was going to have everything she needed. Well, a lady I know posted on freecycle.. she was offering the american girl toboggan for the bitty twins, and I got it! I am so excited.. Anna is going to love her gifts!

Well, I am off to finish cleaning up before craft day with a friend today. Although we won’t be making any crafts really, but they will be decorating cupcakes.. yum.

Bye for now

We are in Rhode Island Right now.  We went to the Stadium theater tonight and saw a production of Cinderella.
Anna just wanted to crawl into Cinderella’s lap.  She practically did!  The girls had a great time and was able to get everyone’s autograph.

The tree is finally getting decorated.. Yesterday I decided to play a game.. we pulled out number cards.. she has a really hard time with the teens… 11, 12,13,etc.. For each one she got right.. she picked an ornament for the tree and put it on.. each one she got wrong.. I picked an ornament. It went awesome.. she really tried to think before she said what it was.. she only got two wrong.. then for a glass ornament she has to lay the cards out on the floor.. in order.. she did perfect.. So right now there are only 21 ornaments on the tree.. actually 23 (she got to do the two wrong ones again at the end.) Today we will do the abc’s in the same way. See my daughter likes to goof off and pretend she doesn’t know the answer.. giving and incentive.. really works and she tries her best.

I am sick, again, and cold, brr.. it is 28 here.. (I know I am a wimp.. I belong in the south!) There was snow on the ground.. yesterday.. not much and it didn’t stay.. we have flurries right now also. I do love the sight of snow as long as I am inside under a blanket with a mug of hot cocoa in my hand (with lots of marshmellows).

I introduced anna to pipi longstocking yesterday. She has watched it 3 times now.. she loves it. It isn’t the original but that is ok. Anyone watch Heroes?? I am in total shock.. Everyweek is just something completely new that we did not predict was going to happen.. very exciting show.. and I have to wait til Jan 22nd for the next episode.. bah!

We are having some pet problems. The poor rabbits are not happy at all. They still do not like us.. I think it is too chaotic in this house for them.. they really deserve a better home.. so I am trying to find a good home for them.. I feel bad.. I never just get rid of a pet.. I do believe they are for life. However, it is not working this time. I have learned a lesson.. always meet the pet before deciding to take them home. We were at the pet store last night.. and the bunnies there are so friendly.. they like to be petting.. one practically crawled into angel’s arm.. we so wanted to take that one home.. I ended up dreaming about it last but first we have a responsibility to these guys.. any ideas?

The fish, david’s actually, is turning black.. I have been doing research, they are ammonia burns!! I have been trying to treat and bought a little thing to test the water.. so far it says safe levels.. We also have a snail in there that is not moving.. hasn’t moved for days.. did more research.. it doesn’t stink (a sign of death) so I guess we will just wait it out and see what happens. Anna was begging for a new snail last night.. but we really need to make sure the tank is safe before putting anything else in there.

Today we plan to make Christmas Cards.. Should be fun!

Thanksgiving Thursday – We spent the entire day being lazy. I cooked.. we ate.. I ate in my pj’s.. that is how lazy we were.

Friday – We left anna with David at 4:30 in the morning and headed to ToysRus where I got something for Jade, Kate (dance mat ) and Anna (twin baby stuff – high chair, swing, etc all in one pack!).. then headed to target and waited in line there for david’s gift (can’t say in case he reads this). Then we headed to Home Depot and bought a live tree and some needed accessories and a wreath (also live), then we headed to AC Moore where I got Jade a sewing machine and kate a pottery wheel for their birthdays. Also grabbed friendship bracelet kit for jade’s christmas and Hello Kitty scrapbook kit for kate’s. Then we headed out for breakfast. We arrived home at 10:30 am and set up the tree. My Avon order arrived and in it was a train I had ordered.. so now sits a tree and a train.. no lights or decor Of course this also meant I spent the entire day trying to rearrange the living room to fit the tree.

Saturday we planned on staying home.. I spent the morning moving things and culling mags and papers.. Also played on the playstation with Angel for a bit, then angel decided we should go to job lot and walmart.. and I needed birthday wrapping paper.. so off we went. As we drove about 10 min out .. the brakes went.. angel had to pull over.. and we discovered a hole in the brake line! He couldn’t call anyone cause his cell was dead.. so we had to drive home (alot down hill).. very slowly using the clutch and emergency brakes along the way.. I am so thankful we were not already near the stores or even on a highway.. it would not have been good.

Sunday – Angel went and got a car rental.. we rushed to the store for wrapping paper.. then rushed to the church so angel could get some paperwork done with pastor. We discovered that Paula (pastor’s wife) had her baby that morning! After chatting with them we headed to RI stopping only to get burgers for the road.

We got to Michaels for the birthday party. Gave Jade and Kate quick hugs.. got Anna settled.. chatted briefly with Angie and left.. Watched anna through the window for a few minutes as they were getting ready to make their craft (bubble gum machine).

Mom, Angel and I headed to Uno’s and grabbed a small meal.. (onion soup was not good at all.. and I have never had bad french onion soup!) Then headed back to pick anna up.. while waiting we wrapped the gifts in the car.. after picking up anna and getting some cardstock.. we headed to angie’s to give the girls their gifts personally.. then headed to take mom home.. I stopped in and saw my dad.. he was trying to sleep and in a bit of pain.

This morning I finally finished going through all the papers and mags.. and reorganized. Angel is wanting to take the day off and go look for a car. Got a call from the school saying david was signing himself out of school.. he is planning to go to Adult Ed 2 nights a week.. which he will earn credits to get a high school diploma.. We knew this was coming.. So we set off to look for a used car.. We came home, did research on the cars we found.. wrote down the mileage and decided on 1 of two vehicles.. a Ford Escort wagon, or a Pontiac Transport van! We went back and checked the van out.. not bad at all..

Tuesday we decided to take the van for a test drive.. then we had to go to bank, insurance company etc.. there was no time to hit hte dmv..

Wednesday – craft day with Steph and kids.. Angel went to the dmv early.. Later Steph went wiht him so she could give him a ride from the rental place (returning car) to the van.. we are now the proud owners of a van.. wow.. While they were gone the kids and I made reindeer puppets (from enchanted learning) and our countdown to Christmas kisses.. (we made it last year at this time and it was a hit.) Then after Steph left we went for a drive.. checked out all the features of the van.. and got pizza.

Thursday – I explained to anna we were going to try something different.. We wrapped 25 Christmas books (anna wrapped quite a bit on her own) we used last years wrapping paper since the wrinkles didn’t matter.. Anna put bows on them and put them all under the tree. After she changed to her pj’s and brushed her teeth… she could pick one gift.. that was the one we would read in her bed only. I turned on her tree lights and after the book was done, we played a music cd on her computer (high school musical.. she loves it and knows all the words).. we both sang some of the songs.. (while I worked on a sudoku puzzle so I wouldn’t fall asleep).. she said.. I am not tired.. I don’t want to sleep here. Then about 2 min. later, she put her head down and she was out! I was able to stay up for a while without her running around.. She did crawl into our bed in the middle of the night..but that is ok.. it is a start. Now, I need to be consistant.

So that is what has been going on in our home.. how are things in your home? What are some of the things you are doing to celebrate Christmas.
