Who’s the Boss on 80’s Trivia?

Quiz Score: 6

Molly Ringwald
You have a bit of growing up to do when it comes to Eighties trivia, but you’ve definitely got a strong foothold in the John Hughes decade. Could it be you’re blocking out some of the horrific highlights of the decade? The 80’s is the decade we love to hate: it’s so bad it’s good. Maybe you just need to put yourself in the mood. Dig out those legwarmers, cuddle up with a John Cusack movie, or rock out to Foreigner. Then take a closer look at this moment of history. The Eighties were a strange trip, no doubt, but somehow they also saw the end of the Cold War and huge technological advances. Why it took big hair and cheesy music to get there, we’ll never know.

Where does the week go?? Everytime I find time to come and ‘blog’, I
discover that it has been a week or longer since I have been here
last.  Things have definately been busy.

Today we actually have snow.  We are supposed to get freezing
rain.  My poor girl has been begging for snow to play in and it
just has not happened this year.

Anna spotted a baby snail in our tank.  It was so exciting.
It is just a tiny little thing.  I have been trying to keep my eye
out for more.

We have been doing quite a bit of learning.  On Groundhog Day, we
read a story about groundhogs, complete with pictures and even wav
files of what they sound like.  Then we watched Phil make his
prediction.  Anna took a little quiz on what she learned, colored
a pic and we made a book.  She had so much fun with it.  She
told me “mommy, I hope my daughter will love learning.  I hope I
can teach her. ”  I was so touched.  Later she came to me
with her little encyclopedia and wanted to learn more about various
things.. from sea creatures to her digestive system.. we looked at
video clips on the web.  It was awesome.  I am started to
realize what child – led learning is.  Now of course we still
focus on phonics a bit and math.. but I am learning that she learns
alot when we satisfy her curiosity .

I am doing awesome on my new bike.. I took it easy one day due to pain
and I have been fine since.  I love the first 20 minutes of my
day.  It just gets me enough energy til mid afternoon.. then I
drink the carrot juice mix.

This weekend.. the girls are coming for a week.  We pick them up on saturday.  I can’t wait.. neither can Anna.

Have a Wonderful Valentines Day!

Thanks for the encouragements yesterdsay!  I was in a bit of pain
with my knees so I just took it slow on the bike yesterday, today my
biking was almost back to normal.  The program was recommending I
stayed in the 10-12mph range.. and I did have to go down to 8mph
often.. no biggie.. still very proud.

I was so motivated I actually went to bed with a clean house!
(That almost never happens!)  Such a nice feeling to wake up
too.  Usually I am rushing around getting things cleaned up.
Matter of fact I am going to go make me some green tea.  BRB

-Back with my green tea.. I have been reading the book “You: On a
Diet”  Very very interesting.. it defiantely has me looking at
labels that is for sure.  A friend of mine who swore she would
never ever change what she eats.. just portions.. is now checking
labels for her entire family.  The book is very eye opening and I
recommend it for anyone trying to be healthier (not just lose

Well, I was all ready for yesterday.. I was kinda excited to watch
little Liam.. but at the same time.. nervous.  He can definately
get into things and is very persistant.  I had a craft planned,
printed out dinosaur and dragon pics.  Had puzzles to pull out,
was going to make cup cakes.  Play games with the girls,
etc.  Well, Liam was so good.. almost too good.  He just
wanted to watch tv.  loved the pics but didn’t want to color
them.  Just watch Sleeping Beauty.. and he didn’t want to
eat.  Which I definately thought was odd.  Well, a few hours
later I found out why.  Poor thing was sick.  I had to call
his mom in the middle of her meeting to tell her.  So no one was
able to sleep over.. oh well.  There will always be another

Well, everyone here is up and getting ready to leave.  It is just
Anna and I for the day and possibly til late evening.. (hubby working
late).  So I am going to enjoy our time together..

Oh man.. I gotta say 1 quick thing.. Who guessed Nathan was the dad!??
I wasn’t able to watch the entire episode because I crashed.. hubby
came in and said you wouldn’t believe who the dad is.  In my
sleepy state I said .. Linberman?  He said .. you will never
guess.  Now I will admit I thought of Nathan.. but for some reason
let that one pass.  I watched it at 6:30 the next morning.. and I
just love that show!

Have a great day!

Oh boy.. it has been an interesting weekend. On Saturday, because I was freezing, I decided to ride my bike for 20 min to warm up. I usually do not exercise on the weekends. As I was riding my seat started to slide backwards.. my bike is broken.. the frame just split! What would I do without a bike?? Everyone says walk. However, it hurts way too badly to walk.. I used to walk everywhere.. but now it is very discouraging and my feet kills all day through the next morning and I feel crippled.

Sunday we went bike shopping and I got a nordi-track. Oh my word.. it is big and has workout programs in there. I have been on it for 3 days and I am definately being challenged. I love it! I hate how much we spent.. but I love the workouts.

I also decided to order a juicer. I have seen the benefits of juicing from others around me.. and it is remarkable. I always said.. no way! Well, it is time for a change. I am not planning on going gung ho.. but do want to at least drink carrot juice 5 times a week or more. So here is to a new adventure.

I have not been doing that great foodwise.. but it is still much better than it was. Hubby doens’t help too much.. he keeps buying the stuff I should not be eating.. what can I say.. I am weak.

However, I think I did awesome Monday. We ended up going to Burger King on the way to pick up David. My mind was on the Texas Double Whopper or the Chicken Tenderloin Sandwich with jalopenos. So I decided I was just gonna order one of them.. don’t know which one.. but gonna do it.. I deserved it.. blah blah blah.. no fries and no soda. So I get right up to the counter and turned for some reason.. turned and glanced at a pic of grilled chicken salad and said..

I will have a grilled chicken salad please.
(Did I just say that?)

Ok.. so what happened.. I wanted the Sandwich.. why did I blurt out grilled chicken salad?? I don’t know.. but I sat there (facing the menu pictures) while eating.. and staring at the texas double whopper (which hubby ordered) My salad was good.. but that sandwhich looked good.. but I am very proud of myself. It is all about making healthier choices and I am on my way there. 🙂

I finally got my juicer in the mail yesterday. So heavy! So I made my first carrot juice. I only had a bag of baby carrots, added and apple and a stalk of celery.. then stared at my glass for a good 5 minutes thinking.. do I really want that?? It was pretty good.. Angel picked up some carrots and beets for me last night.. so that is going to be interesting.

Today I am watching a friend’s children. I actually offered to keep them overnight. I know I will be busy today.
